Sol Sana shoes are hand crafted using genuine leather and suede. Like all natural materials, these both react to the atmosphere. Please take a moment and read through these recommendations set out by Sol Sana.

LEATHER

High quality leather is still prone to occasional scratching if not handled with proper care. We recommend occasionally treating our leather with a leather conditioner, which will help keep it hydrated.  To prevent the leather from developing marks, we recommend avoiding exposure to abrasive surfaces and always taking care to store the item properly when not in use. For lighter colours we also recommend avoiding exposure to dark denim or other dark fabrics with loose dye, as the leather could be subject to colour transfer or stains.

SUEDE

Suede is a sensitive form of material so it is important to be careful. Suede should be brushed gently with a suede rubber, smoothing down all the fibers in the same direction. We advise to apply a protective waterproofing spray which is specifically for suede or nubuck.

SUEDE LEATHER

Our Suede Leather is a soft, delicate leather with a velvet like finish. Darker and vibrantly coloured suedes may stain lighter coloured clothing and other materials if placed in close contact.  To prolong the life of your suede leather product we recommend pre-treating the leather with a suede protectant and avoiding exposure to water or other liquids.  We also recommend occasionally treating the leather with a suede brush, which can help smooth any marks or indentations on the surface.

WATERPROOFING

Not all Sol Sana shoes come fully waterproofed. Specialist waterproofing sprays are available for a variety of different leather and suede types. If unsure take the shoes with you when purchasing a shoe care product and ask for advice as to which product is most suitable.

If a pair of Sol Sana shoes become wet from outdoor wear, dry with a soft, clean cloth and let them dry in natural/warm environment. Should the shoes be extremely wet that they are damp on the inside, we advise to pack the inside of the shoes with newspaper to help absorb water. We recommend not to dry shoes in front of a heater or in direct sunlight as this may damage the shoes.

CLEANING AND STORAGE

Cleaning your shoes regularly help give your shoes a longer life. There is a wide range of general and specific shoe care products that can be purchased.

Always store your product in the dust bag provided and out of sunlight when not in use. It is normal that overtime some softer leathers may become dry and lose some of their natural finish due to wear. To surpass this we advise to regularly apply a thin layer of nourishing cream and buff lightly with a cloth.
